Chena River to Ridge

FEBRUARY 29, 2020

55 Mile and 26 Mile Multi-sport Endurance Race

in Interior Alaska’s Chena Recreation Area

We invite you to venture north to Fairbanks to participate in this unique multi-sport endurance race in interior Alaska. The Chena River to Ridge race will take racers around maintained snow-machine trails in the Chena River Recreation Area about 30 miles east of Fairbanks. Its a challenging race course with big ascents, fast downhills, blind turns, and outstanding views of the local hills and the Alaska Range as the trail climbs high above the valley floor. Racers can either travel by ski, bike, or on foot. There is a 55-mile course and a 26-mile course. After the race, you can relax your muscles in the thermal waters at Chena Hot Springs Resort, about 30 minutes away.

Chena River to Ridge

As many of you know, its cold as s&@t outside!

We will still be out there because it’s Alaska and weather rarely stops us!

BUT... it’s cold! Your race can go bad in a hurry and could possibly become dangerous. It is up to YOU to make the right decision for YOU. Only you know your needs and your limits. We will be there to support you, but that’s just it, “support”. Our CP folks can’t babysit you and we will not be tracking you thru your journey. You’re responsible for you, no one else.

Be prepared tomorrow. Dress appropriately, bring hand/feet warmers, no matter how cold you are- fluids and fuel! Keep a change of clothes at Twin Bears so you can change when you’re done.

We know all of you don’t need this lecture, but still felt we needed to throw this out there while we sit in our warm homes not wanting to go out and do more race prep! Ha!

See your smiling, frosty faces tomorrow.

Trails are marked! Went out again today, did some grooming (our efforts from Monday seemed to have disappeared!!) Many thanks to those that helped out! There is a fair bit of overflow on Colorado Crk. More info will be shared in a race email next week. Enjoy your weekend! ... See MoreSee Less
